Sometimes its hard to keep track of the transformation and the work that God does on our lives. I sat down to think how He has worked in my life and I find myself wowed by the insane changes and blessings that he’s decided carry out in my life… Some of these evidences are tangible, I can point to some incredible things that I can touch and that point to His love, His existence, my relationship with Him, etc. But perhaps the most telling is the change within, the change that He’s made in my heart… I thought “Why do I want to help do such and such?, or where does this drive to serve come from?” or “how come I don’t struggle with such and such anymore?”… Anyways… it hit me hard. He really changed me, like, He’s changed my desires, my thoughts, its crazy.
These verses in Romans 8 struck me…
5Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires … 9You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. 10But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. 11And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.
Our official launch is here! This weekend we get our one chance to launch CF West Kendall. It’s exciting for many different reasons (in no order of importance)…
- Change in the WK. West Kendall is densely populated and there really aren’t a lot of churches, so a lot of people are about to hear the good news of Jesus Christ. It’s why we do what we do.
- The theater is made for sound… Our band on Sundays looks like this right now: a bassist, 2 electric guitarists, drummer, acoustic, lead singer, and backup vocals. They are awesome. We really are praying for a keyboard player, if you know anyone, let me know. More on them in the next couple of blogs…
- From the start we pray that the worship atmosphere will be awesome. I mean I want fervent worship in CF West Kendall.
- The leadership team… I love working with my leaders, they are awesome. Did I mention the campus directors are volunteers?
- The volunteers… Incredible. The commitment and passion week after week is amazing, I’m encouraged and humbled by their attitude.
- The learning experience… I think I want to write a book about a theater church.
- I get to serve with my wife along my side… (Children’s Director) She is pretty incredible.
There are so many more, please pray for the team that God will give us the endurance, passion and determination to do His work out in this city. The best is yet to come.
I think that in our pursuit of God we may stumble upon some crazy ideas don’t you think? Anyways, happy Valentine’s Day to all. CF West Kendall kicks off this weekend! See you there!
So, my wife and I took a momentary break from the debate to watch a little bit of an amateur circus show, which got a similar response out of my wife, then we want back to the debate and my wife seemed very, very concerned with a statement that Sen. Edwards said. He said “if I get elected my first day that I am on the white house I will have no corporate lobbyists around.”
Slowly, real slowly I have gathered a milieu of thoughts to post on this blog. My wife is awesome. That’s the first thought. The second thought, the word caucus. It somehow offends people, last night there I was talking about the Iowa caucus and people started laughing. Tonight, I watch the presidential debate but I stop as I look at my wife. This is how she watches the debate. There, a slow, quiet sunday night return to the blog.
I live in one of the most multicultural cities in the United States. If you don’t speak spanish and you are a worship leader/pastor you may encounter some difficulties this Christmas, especially if you sing the song “Feliz Navidad” by José Feliciano. The letter Ñ is crucial in this song, crucial. Let me translate it for you without the ñ.
- Feliz Navidad, Feliz Navidad, Feliz Navidad, propero “ano” (ñ goes here) y felicidad.
- Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas, prosperous (anus) and happiness.
- MAC – press alt/option and n at the same time and you may get the ñ, or you may get just the ˜ with a yellow box. In the case of the latter just press n afterwards.
- WINDOWS – Get a Mac. Or press alt and the number 164 or 165 at the same time.
Check it,
My birthday is this friday. My wife decided that the number seven is of special significance to us so she decided to give me 7 days of gifts (impressive I know, she’s amazing). Anyways in some ways these great gifts… well they may not be helping me win the fat man challenge, one of them was a cookie card. A mrs.Fields giant chocolate chip cookie card that I practically ate by myself and then felt incredibly guilty about. But hey, then I read having cheat days is actually good for you, just not when you have them twice a week. And when you run it off (although the piece was so massive that honestly, I don’t know if the calories can be lost even in one spinning session) you can afford it. Pics of the 7 gifts coming soon…
It’s here to stay. At least until February. Check out the video. These guys are competitive, it’s going to be tough.
