What an awesome, off the hook, straight up sick weekend. I felt compelled to write a snippet about it even though I haven’t written anything for weeks now.

I had one of the best birthdays ever thanks to my INCREDIBLE wife. She organized this party even though she had to plan for one of the biggest weekends at the West Kendall campus. She had a theme for the party – Lovers in Japan (one of the songs that we love). She and some of our friends who helped put it together decorated the house with Japanese accents – it was great. By the way I apologize if you were supposed to be invited – it was a crazy busy weekend and we just didn’t get a chance to call everyone.

At the West Kendall campus Family Day was awesome. We had 362 people – the most people we’ve ever had besides Easter. People got to see their kids sing and dance to Christmas Carols with the band and got to hear an amazing message from Pastor Rick. Also, Johanna Viscaino led a team of artists to make these FANTASTIC vignettes for the campus.(pics coming soon). The energy level was high - a lot of guests heard the gospel – it was awesome.

This past week could be aptly characterized as awesome. It was a packed and hectic week but I saw God do some awesome things… Monday night the CFWK staff went out to dinner and basically had a great creative meeting. Tuesday night my wife and I hosted our College group and we had 11 people come, plus we talked about the Satanic Trinity (which is insane), and celebrated Johanna’s bday! Wednesday night I had a chance to lead @ CFStudents in worship and I had a blast! Friday I spent all day with my wife and we had a great time! (She’s awesome, like amazing) Saturday morning I led worship @ a funeral (that was a first) and then on Sunday… Sunday… I saw about 350 people come to the West Kendall campus! That is the most attendance we’ve had (excluding Easter) ever. That same day I saw the faces of people that had accepted Christ in our campus get baptized at Bill Baggs state park and it was so special -

I’ve witnessed change,
I’ve seen God at work and its straight up awesome.

It gave me fuel. You see I’m pumped to be part of a team that is fierce to get the message of Jesus Christ out into the city. Keep praying that God would keep leading us and that he would be glorified in this city.

Overall awesomeness.

Well, when I saw it first I couldn’t believe it. Ladies and gentlemen watch this video carefully… In their last DVD (which came out a couple of months later than Christ Fellowship’s DVD) one of the Hillsong worship leaders used the same hoodie (urbanoutfitters.com) than CF’s own Berchman Paul. That boy’s got style. Check it!

Judas THE Iscariot

Two weeks ago I heard one of the sickest messages that I have ever heard. And by sick I mean amazing. Pastor Rick Blackwood finished our series “The Dirty Dozen” by preaching a sermon that examined the life of Judas. I would do a disservice to the message if I even gave you a short summary. You need to download it here. Or look for it on itunes in the Christ Fellowship Miami podcast.

Anyways, God spoke through him incredibly, in fact in our 8:30 am service (where mainly leaders and volunteers attend) something incredible happened… it was the first time in CF West Kendall where we had an invitation asking people to come towards the stage to receive Jesus… 1 person started to come down… it’s the 8:30 service! I thought… My heart was so full of joy. I got a picture, a glimpse, of what God could do in a movie theater.

The launch!

Our official launch is here! This weekend we get our one chance to launch CF West Kendall. It’s exciting for many different reasons (in no order of importance)…

Change in the WK. West Kendall is densely populated and there really aren’t a lot of churches, so a lot of people are about to hear the good news of Jesus Christ. It’s why we do what we do.
The theater is made for sound… Our band on Sundays looks like this right now: a bassist, 2 electric guitarists, drummer, acoustic, lead singer, and backup vocals. They are awesome. We really are praying for a keyboard player, if you know anyone, let me know. More on them in the next couple of blogs…
- From the start we pray that the worship atmosphere will be awesome. I mean I want fervent worship in CF West Kendall.
The leadership team… I love working with my leaders, they are awesome. Did I mention the campus directors are volunteers?
The volunteers… Incredible. The commitment and passion week after week is amazing, I’m encouraged and humbled by their attitude.
The learning experience… I think I want to write a book about a theater church.
I get to serve with my wife along my side… (Children’s Director) She is pretty incredible.

There are so many more, please pray for the team that God will give us the endurance, passion and determination to do His work out in this city. The best is yet to come.

Here at Christ Fellowship we have a worship leader meeting every monday where we dissect the past weekend and where we talk and dream about the weeks to come. Sometimes the artist inside the worshippers will come out. Yesterday I realized that I was amidst a group of poets and romantics. I’ll give you two quotes from the meeting yesterday to prove my point…

Pastor Sammy Flores (on why you should use a click track)
- “Some people just have an awesome tempo in their soul, others just don’t”
Berchman Paul (talking about lighting and how he looked on video in the screens)
- “When the camera was panning from left to right all you saw were shiny glasses and a smile”

I love working with these Artists.
